The Sod Store, a landscape supply and service company established by Gary Kifer in 1992 which was originally known as Steve’s Sod serving Northwest Arkansas. The business opened several locations in Oklahoma during the 80’s & 90’s under the direction of Zack’s uncle Steve Abel with an expansion into Arkansas in 1992 under the leadership of Steve’s brother Gary. In 2001, Gary and his wife Christi Kifer purchased the Arkansas location, renaming it to The Sod Store. The couple managed the company's daily operations and industry reputation over 3 decades before their son led a group of investors to purchase the company in October of 2019 to allow his parents to retire. Under Zack’s leadership, The Sod Store has experienced considerable growth, expanding its operations and revenue 5x since 2019. The Sod Store continues to exemplify a commitment to excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
