The Sod Store serves as the premier retail & wholesale sod provider of Northwest Arkansas. We are proud to be a family-owned and operated business since 1992.
1992
Steve Abel owned 5 stores across Oklahoma and Arkansas.
1992
Gary & Christi Kifer moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to open “Steve’s Sod Store” in Arkansas.
2002
Kifer family purchased the Arkansas store from Steve and renamed the business to “The Sod Store.”
2019
Zack Kifer (son of Gary & Christi) purchased “The Sod Store” with his partner, Grant Lancelot. The two continue to carry on the Sod Store name and business relationships built over the last 30 years.

Managing Partner
Zack is the son of Gary & Christi Kifer and has grown up around the store his entire life. He manages the finances and handles business development. Zack graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2015 with a finance degree from the Sam Walton College of Business. Zack is also a commercial real estate broker with Newmark Moses Tucker Partners.
Grant Lancelot
Partner & Operations Manager
Grant has owned his own landscaping business since he was 14 years old and is now a partner and handles all field operations for The Sod Store. This May Grant is graduating from the University of Arkansas with a degree in turf grass management from the Dale Bumpers College of Agriculture, Food & Life Sciences.
Christi Kifer
Office Manager
Christi has been involved in the business since 1992. She is the glue that makes us run efficiently! She has been the office manager since inception and will typically be the person you will speak with and see at the office most often.
